Is it possible to start the program in Berlin first?

No, due to the academic concept of the program, this is not possible.

What is the fee for this program?

The GET MA Program charges tuition fees for the entire two year program, which amount to €2.500 per semester. In the application form you can state your need for scholarships as well. We try to support the students with excellent academic records with additional scholarships. If you plan to apply for scholarships, please contact the student services for further assistance.

Can I apply for scholarships?

In general, it is possible to apply for scholarships for the GET MA program. For further information on eligibiliy, application procedures and deadlines, we kindly ask you to visit our page about Program Cost and Funding.

Who can I contact about anti-discrimination and diversity?

The central contact points for anti-discrimination and diversity are currently being expanded within Humboldt-Universität, but this will take some time.

Application requirements

Where should I send my application documents to? Germany or Türkiye?

If you received your university entrance qualification in Türkiye, you have to apply via METU. All other applicants must apply to the Humboldt Universität zu Berlin.

Is there an application fee for GET MA?

No.

Can I apply for this program if I am not a student from Germany or Türkiye?

This program is open to students from all over the world. Hence, we highly encourage people from all nationalities and backgrounds to apply!

Do you accept applications only from those who hold a (completed) BA degree or also from current undergraduates? 

Students who graduate in the ongoing semester must attach a transcript and a confirmation by the registrar’s office stating the exact date of graduation to the application. Hence, for the application, it is not necessary to have the final diploma. However, you have to submit your BA diploma before actually starting the program in September.

Can the CV and letters of recommendation be written in languages other than English?

No, letters of recommendation and the CV have to be submitted in English.

Do you have any guidelines concerning the content of the academic references/letters of recommendation?

Letters of recommendation should be written by professors or instructors. They may comment on the academic achievements of the student and explain why he/she thinks the student is suitable for GET MA Program. The letters must be sealed and be either sent directly to the GET MA office or handed in together with the application forms. Please note: The academic reference need to be written in English!

Do you have any guidelines for the writing samples?

One writing sample of 10 pages (either in German or English) is to be handed in with the application. You should choose either your BA thesis or another well-written thesis or essay.


Language requirements

Can I apply for GET MA if I do not speak any German or Turkish?

Language skills of both languages are welcome but not necessary. Applicants are not expected to have German or Turkish proficiency. German and Turkish language courses will be provided in Ankara as part of the GET MA Program. During the academic year in Berlin, students can take the elective courses either in German or in English. In Türkiye, all courses are taught in English.

I received a language certificate from my university (eg. UniCert-English, C1-level). May this substitute a TOEFL or METU EPE test to prove my English language proficiency?

Due to our high academic standard and the regulations of both universities all applicants have to prove their English knowledge with a TOEFL test or METU EPE.

Is the GRE accepted as an equivalent to English language proficiency exams (TOEFL or METU EPE)?

No. Students have to submit an English proficiency issued by TOEFL or METU EPE.
