Pernilla Söderberg joined the research training group “The Dynamics of Demography, Democratic Processes and Public Policy” (DYNAMICS) as a doctoral researcher in September 2021.
She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Stockholm University and a Master’s degree in International Affairs from the Hertie School of Governance. Her academic training also includes study periods at the City University of Hong Kong and Universitat Jaume I in Spain, reflecting a strong international orientation. Prior to beginning her doctoral studies, Pernilla gained experience in international policy and public affairs through positions at the Swedish Ministry for Foreign Affairs in Stockholm, the United Nations Development Programme in New York, and the communications and public affairs firm Edelman in Brussels.
In her dissertation, Pernilla investigates how environmental conditions and spatial contexts shape political attitudes and behavior. Her research focuses on how both objective and perceived climate vulnerabilities influence climate change beliefs and support for public climate action. She employs quantitative methods and geospatial data to examine how localized climate risks interact with individual-level political preferences and perceptions.
