Profile

Denis graduated from Humboldt-University Berlin with a Bachelor of Arts in 2013 and subsequently received his master’s degree in Political Economy from the University of Essex in 2014. Since 2014, he has been enrolled as a PhD student at BGSS. Denis’ main research focus lies at the intersection of political preference formation, electoral behavior, and party and issue competition.

In his doctoral project, he examines context-dependent mechanisms that contribute to the explanation of individual-level vote choice for populist parties in Europe. His methodological interests include quantitative approaches to the analysis of clustered data, measurement models, and strategies for causal identification.
