The department of social sciences, chair for microsociology, Prof. Anette Fasang, at Humboldt-University of Berlin invites applications for a full-time postdoctoral research position in the DFG-German Research Foundation funded comparative research project “Households' labor supply arrangement and in-work poverty: longitudinal dynamics in a cross-country comparison”, in collaboration with Emanuela Struffolino (University of Milan) and Asaf Levanon (University of Haifa). The project will address two issues: 1) which household-level decision-making processes and behaviors about working hours drive differential risks of in-work poverty, and 2) how household-level labor supply decisions shape longitudinal dynamics of in-work poverty over the life course in different welfare contexts. Country-cases are Germany, Italy, and Israel. The project will generate empirical evidence that informs theory building on the temporal dynamics of social inequality across the life course as well as policy recommendations on how to combat in- work poverty for different households in different countries.
Job description:
- Scientific research and services in the above-mentioned research project Including independent research work as part of the project and in cooperation with the project leaders
- Project coordination
- Quantitative longitudinal analyses
- Participation in the collection of an internationally comparative factorial survey and scientific publications in international journals
Requirements:

University degree and doctorate in social sciences, demography or a related
subject

Very good knowledge of quantitative data analysis and experience in R or
Stata
-
International orientation and ideally own publications in internationally
recognized scientific journals

Research focus in at least one of the areas of family, social demography, social
inequality, life course, comparative welfare state research, poverty and social
policy and quantitative methods

Excellent knowledge of Englisch

Ability to work independently and in a team

Experience with factorial surveys is an advantage but not a requirement
