All applications to the Transatlantic Masters (TAM) program are processed by the University of North Carolina. The application deadline is April 14, 2020. TAM is open to applicants from all over the world.

Entrance Requirements

  • undergraduate degree from an accredited college or university, or its international equivalent, preferably in a relevant subject area (e.g. Political Sciences, History, International Relations, European Studies, American Studies, Economics, or modern languages)

  • Students are expected to be proficient in English and at least on other language (non-native English speakers must provide a TOEFL exam; students who are interested in studying in a third language must demonstrate their respective language ability.

  • GRE General Exam

Necessary application documents

  • TAM Program Application

  • TAM Language evaluation(s)

  • Statement of Purpose

  • Writing Sample

  • Financial Certificate (only applies to non-residents of the US)

  • Three letters of recommendation

  • Official transcripts of all university/ college-level coursework

  • GRE Exam Scores

  • TOEFL (internet-based exam: 79/ paper-based exam: 550 with a minimum of 50 in each section) or IELTS: 7

  • Curriculum Vitae

Please note: Core courses in Berlin are taught in German. Electives are chosen from the regular course catalogue and will therefore be held in German or English. Students are expected to speak German at a level of B1.2 and/ or complete the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin online German test with at least 60 points.
