Diversity and Social Conflict
Due to the current situation, the regular post service of the HU cannot be guaranteed. For this reason, all students are asked to send final papers to their supervisors digitally. Bachelor- and Master-theses need to be sent to the examination office by e-mail. Please make sure to name both supervisors in this mail.
Department of Diversity and Social Conflict offers seminars and thesis supervision on citizenship, immigration, anti-racism, religion, ethnicity and gender-related topics. We are particularly interested in theoretical and empirical work everyday and institutional racism, political participation of immigrants and minorities in Europe, intersections of gender, "race" and class and refugee movements. In these themes, we aim to bring historical depth, contextual comparisons and methodological (particularly qualitative or mixed methods) analysis of current controversies in the European context. We are affiliated as researchers with Berlin Institute for Migration and Integration Research at our university. We are officially collaborating with University of Melbourne, Australia in the framework of Berlin University Alliance.
