The KATARSIS-Project aims to build a platform on which research teams specialised in the study of the consequences of growing inequality and social exclusion will exchange their knowledge and work towards a better integration of their research progammes and methodologies. 19 partners from 13 European countries as well as from Canada are involved in the project. The focus is on the response to the growing exclusion, namely the creative and socially innovative strategies by which people react to conditions of exclusion, both at the individual and the collective level.

The developed strategies are often different from the ways in which mainstream society's knowledge and practices are mobilised and often trigger processes of social innovation opening up fresh venues for policy design and implementation.
