November - "Türkisch-Syrische Beziehungen zu Beginn des 21. Jahrhunderts | Network Turkey - GeT MA Jour Fixe"
On November 14, 2012 our “Turkey in the 21st century | Network Turkey – GeT MA Jour Fixe” hosted Dr. Gülistan Gürbey and Dr. Carsten Wieland who discussed the Turkish Syrian relations in past and present. The current tensions in the borderland between Turkey and Syria drew large media interest on the region and the neighborly relations between the two countries. As a result numerous questions arose which cannot be answered without a better understanding of both countries’ societies and their social, political and economic relations. Our guests provided expert knowledge on the topic and scrutinized the domestic and foreign policies of the countries as well as their repercussions on their neighborly relations. The discussion was moderated by Ali Aslan from Deutsche Welle.

On September 19, 2012 GeT MA and Network Turkey hosted the fourth event of their joint "Die Türkei im 21. Jahrhundert ǀ Network Turkey - GeT MA Jour Fixe". Our guests Tuba Işık (Paderborn), Dr. Kerem Öktem (Oxford) and Prof. Dr. Werner Schiffauer (Frankfurt O.) discussed the formation, constitution, activities and repercussions of Islamic Networks both in Turkey and in Germany while at the same time not neglecting their transnational quality and scope. The discussion was moderated by Dr. Günter Seufert (Berlin).
August - "Die Türkei nach 10 Jahren AKP-Regierung | Network Turkey - GeT MA Jour Fixe"
On August 1, 2012 GeT MA and Network Turkey hosted the third event of their joint "Die Türkei im 21. Jahrhundert ǀ Network Turkey - GeT MA Jour Fixe". Our guests Prof. Dr. Udo Steinbach and Dr. Roy Karadağ discussed the current state of Turkey after 10 years of AKP rule. Ever since its accession to power 2002 the party moves in between political continuities and fractures which were traced back to their roots and put under scrutiny just as much as the party's activities in various policy fields.

On June 19, 2012 GeT MA and Network Turkey hosted the second event of their joint "Die Türkei im 21. Jahrhundert ǀ Network Turkey - GeT MA Jour Fixe". This time our guest Dr. Helen Baykara-Krumme from Technische Universität Chemnitz presented preliminary results of the NORFACE research project "500 Families. Migration Histories of Turks in Europe". On the basis of the presented results Dr. Baykara-Krumme discussed the topic of migration in general as well as the specifics of Turkish migration to Europe with our audience.

On May 2, 2012 GeT MA and Network Turkey organized the kickoff event of their joint "Die Türkei im 21. Jahrhundert ǀ Network Turkey - GeT MA Jour Fixe". We were pleased to host Ms. Sarina Strumpen, Prof. Dr. Klaus Kreiser, Mr. Osman Okkan and Mr. Vural Öger and join these four experts on one panel moderated by Dr. Günter Seufert.
